SMSC
The Short Message Service Center (SMSC) is not a company or brand but rather a component of a mobile phone network that handles text message operations. It is responsible for receiving, storing, routing, and forwarding SMS messages from mobile handsets. The SMSC works in conjunction with other network components like the home location register (HLR), visitor location register (VLR), and mobile switching center (MSC) to determine if the recipient is online and to manage message delivery. It also interacts with SMS gateways, allowing text messages to be transmitted over the Internet and integrated into various applications, including email and line-of-business systems.
