Technical Documents

The ADM485 series is a low power, 5 Mbps, half-duplex EIA RS-485 transceiver that meets the requirements of the TIA/EIA-485-A standard. It operates from a single 5 V power supply and features onboard protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical fast transients (EFT). The ADM485 series is designed for balanced data transmission and complies with both EIA-485 and EIA-422 standards. It has a bus common-mode range of –7 V to +12 V, making it suitable for multipoint applications over long cable runs. The ADM485 series is a superior upgrade for the LTC485. It has a driver propagation delay of 10 ns and a receiver propagation delay of 15 ns. The ADM485 series also features high-speed, low-power BiCMOS circuitry that provides an overall power saving of up to 50% compared to other similar devices.
