The ADM4855 series is a 5 V, ⅛ Load, Slew-Rate Limited, RS-485/RS-422 Transceiver (Full Duplex, 500 kbps) that is compliant with the Electronics Industries Alliance (EIA) RS-485/RS-422 standards. It has a data rate of 500 kbps and has half-duplex and full-duplex options. The ADM4855 series has reduced slew rates for low electromagnetic interference (EMI) and true fail-safe receiver inputs. It also has a supply current of 5 µA (maximum) in shutdown mode. The ADM4855 series can have up to 256 transceivers on one bus and outputs high-Z when disabled or powered off. It has a bus common-mode range of -7 V to +12 V and thermal shutdown and short-circuit protection1. The ADM4855 series is pin-compatible with the MAX308x.
