Microsemi Corporation's SmartFusion®2 series embedded is a family of System-on-Chip (SoC) devices that integrate an FPGA, a hard ARM Cortex-M3 processor, and a rich set of system-level peripherals, all on a single chip.
Features
FPGA Fabric: In addition to the ARM Cortex-M3 processor, the SmartFusion®2 series has an FPGA fabric that enables users to design custom logic and interfaces.
Hard ARM Cortex-M3 processor: The series has an ARM Cortex-M3 processor with a maximum operating frequency of 166 MHz. Without on-chip program memory, the processor can execute instructions straight from external Flash memory.
System-level peripherals are abundant in the SmartFusion®2 series, which includes Ethernet MACs, USB 2.0 OTG controllers, CAN controllers, UARTs, SPIs, I2Cs, GPIOs, and more.
Security: A thorough security subsystem with hardware acceleration for cryptography, tamper detection, and security key storage is part of the SmartFusion®2 series.
Low Power: A variety of power-saving features, including sleep modes, clock gating, and dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, contribute to the series' low power consumption.
High Reliability: The SmartFusion®2 series has features like Single Event Upset (SEU) mitigation and Error Correction Code (ECC) protection and is built for high reliability.
The Libero® SoC Design Suite, the SoftConsoleTM IDE, and the SmartDebugTM debugging tools are just a few of the development tools that Microsemi offers for the SmartFusion®2 family. These tools make it possible to design and debug applications for the SmartFusion®2 series quickly.
