Nexperia has opened its first design center in North America and hopes to hire 100 engineers in Dallas, Texas, to support its new power management and analog chip business units, according to foreign media outlet eenews.

"Our goal is to be a leading supplier in key semiconductors, with plans to reach $10 billion by 2030," said Irene Deng, general manager of the new power and signal conversion business group and a member of the company's management team.

The new business unit will develop more complex chips with regulators and data converters to complement its discrete power devices. "We are entering the analog IC market because we believe the market will continue to grow and be a part of it through voltage regulators and battery protection," she continued.

She also talked about how this would not put the company, which is owned by China's Wintel Technology, at odds with NXP.

"The analog market is $50 billion and the largest share is no more than 30 percent, so this market is big enough for many players," she said. "We respect the fact that we have a strong portfolio of sources in automotive and industrial, so we're going to start with something different, like battery management for handheld devices, so I do think it's a good fit with NXP."

"In Dallas, our goal is to hire 100 people over the next two to three years," she said. "We identified a building to be renovated and Dallas will be the headquarters for North American R&D, but we're not limited to the rest of the country."

According to the official website, Nexperia, a subsidiary of Wintel Technology, is a leading global manufacturer specializing in discrete devices, logic devices, and MOSFET devices. The company became independent in early 2017.Nexperia places great emphasis on efficiency and produces high-volume semiconductor components with reliable and stable performance, producing more than 90 billion pieces of reliable and stable semiconductor components per year. The company has a broad product portfolio that meets the stringent standards required by the automotive industry. We manufacture in-house industry-leading small packages that combine energy efficiency, thermal efficiency, and outstanding quality. nexperia supports customers worldwide with more than 11,000 employees spread across Asia, Europe, and the United States, rooted in more than 50 years of expertise.

Last year, Ensyn Semiconductor announced that it had completed the signing of a transaction agreement to acquire Newport Wafer Fab ("NWF"). Through this acquisition, Ensyn Semiconductor acquired 100% ownership of the Welsh semiconductor silicon chip manufacturing facility. NWF was originally founded in 1982 as INMOS and currently has a capacity of over 35,000 200mm wafers per month, covering a wide range of semiconductor technologies from MOSFETs and Trench Gate IGBTs using wafer thinning methods to CMOS, analog and compound semiconductors. Wintec told the Observer that the Newport facility, together with the 200mm wafer investments currently underway at the Manchester and Hamburg fabs, and other projects in place, will help Ansys Semiconductor achieve its ambitious strategic growth targets and enrich its IGBT, analog, and compound semiconductor product lines. In addition, this acquisition significantly enhances Ansys Semiconductor's ability to supply products that meet automotive-grade standards and expand its market share.

This month, Wintec even disclosed that its wholly-owned subsidiary Nexperia B.V. (hereinafter referred to as Ansys Semiconductor) established a China Research Institute in 2021 to focus on new product development directions such as high voltage power devices and analog ICs. At present, the company's independent design and development of IGBT series products have successfully flowed, and all parameters have reached the design requirements.

The person in charge of the Secretary's Office of WINTECH said that IGBT is a product with great prospects for subsequent development in power semiconductors, and the company has been doing research and development before. The flow of the film is a more critical process node in the process of product development and production. Talking about the specific use of IGBT, the person in charge said, "the product is a kind of automotive, one is photovoltaic, mainly these two industries a little more. But if specifically subdivided into downstream scenarios at the municipal level, many places are useful."
