BC109 Description

The BC109 is a silicon planar epitaxial NPN transistor in the TO-18 metal case. It is suitable for use in driver stages, low noise input stages, and signal processing circuits of television receivers. The complementary PNP type is BC179.

The maximum collector to emitter voltage of the transistor is 20V which means that the transistor can drive a maximum load voltage of 20V. Moreover, the maximum collector dissipation is 300mW and the DC gain value is from 200 to 800, it also has a good noise figure of 4dB.

Where and How to use BC109

Because the BC109 is a general-purpose transistor, it can be utilized in any general-purpose application that meets its requirements. It can be used to power loads that draw less than 100 milliamps. It is perfect for audio amplification, preamplification, and any electronic signal amplification because of its low noise figure of 4dB. It's also suited for usage in RF circuits below 100MHz, thanks to the 100MHz transition frequency.
