What is CR1616?

The CR1616 is a coin cell battery that works in many smaller electronic devices. It is able to power key fobs, glucometers, heart rate monitors, toys, computer backup equipment, and more. One of its most popular uses is in the Honda and Lexus key fobs, but it is also used in many other car brands and devices. Having a battery you can rely on gives you peace of mind. No one wants to run out of power for his or her important devices. With these batteries, you can easily store them long-term so that you always have the power that you need.
Also known as 1616, L28, BR1616, or DL1616 batteries, these coin cell batteries use lithium technology and offer high charge density for longer life.
What is CR2025?

CR2025 is a coin cell battery. Coin cell batteries like CR2025 have many uses, they are usually used for small portable electronics devices such as:
wristwatches
pocket calculators
automobile keyless entry transmitter
hearing aids
They are generally of a compact size, 5-25mm in diameter and 1-6mm in height. The name defines the size of the battery as for CR2025, the first two digits are for the diameter and the second for the height or thickness of tenths of mm. Therefore, 20mm is the diameter of CR2025, and 2.5mm is the thickness.
Lithium button or coin cell batteries are a bit more expensive than alkaline, ones but last longer, weigh less, and have a wide operating temperature range.

CR1616 vs CR2025: Similarity in Features
Lightweight, High Voltage, and High Energy Density
The battery voltage is 3V, almost double that of normal alkaline or manganese batteries. This means that the number of batteries required for equipment can be halved for maximum space-saving and weight reduction.
Excellent Discharge Characteristics
Voltage characteristics remain stable even for a long period of discharge, greatly improving the reliability of equipment that uses the battery. Such equipment is also maintenance-free (battery replacement is seldom required).
Excellent Leakage Resistance
The newly developed battery construction and electrolyte ensure maximum leakage resistance over a long span of time.
Excellent Long-Term Reliability
Carefully selected active materials are used for the active material as well as for the electrolyte.
RoHS Directive / European Directives
This product does not contain Mercury(Hg), Cadmium(Cd), nor Lead(Pb), and conforms to EC regulation values. (Directive 2006/66/EC, 2013/56/EU)
Battery packs are excluded from the RoHS directive (DIRECTIVE 2011/65/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 8 June 2011 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment).
CR1616 vs CR2025: Similarity in Pros and Cons
pros
It comes with a lightweight coin-looking design
High voltage output
The energy density is very high compared to the size
Slow discharge increases the usable time
Great leakage resistance is included
Ensures long-term reliability
Cons
This battery is allowed for single-use
Non-rechargeable
Can I use a CR2025 battery instead of a CR1616?
Because CR1616 batteries and CR2025 batteries have the same voltage, they can be used interchangeably. However, because 2025s are a few millimeters thicker than the 1616s, they might not fit in cartridges that originally included 1616s.
Warning:
Although CR1616 should NOT contain mercury or any other heavy metal like cadmium or similar, they are small and compact and even kids can swallow them.
That is why most manufacturers package their CR1616 and similar batteries in 'child safe' packages which require some strength to be opened without tools of some kind. If these batteries are swallowed, induce vomiting right away and call emergency services and act according to their instructions!
What does CR stand for in batteries?
CR is the generic designation that is used by the entire batteries maker but lithium batteries are also having chromium. All the batteries that have this chemical substance in their batteries can use this abbreviation CR. On the other DL is the short abbreviation of the battery-making company Duracell.
Is 2025 battery same as 2032?
2032 and 2025 are literally the dimensions of the battery. 2032 is 20mm in diameter, 3.2mm thick, and 2025 is slightly thinner, at 2.5mm thick. They usually both have the same voltage (3V) and assuming they fit in the case, they are interchangeable.
What battery is equivalent to CR2025?
Although there are no exact equivalent batteries to the CR2025, there are multiple batteries that may act as suitable substitutions. The CR2016 and CR2032 are exchangeable with the CR2025, but users must consider space limitations. The CR2016, CR2025, and CR2032 cell batteries all have the same voltage.
Can I use cr2025 instead of cr1616?
Technically they are cross-compatible if a CR2032 can fit into the spot for a CR1616, though this is very unlikely.
How do I know if my lithium ion battery is bad?
Without an analyzer, or running runtime test, etc, the easiest way to tell that a Li-Ion cell is nearing its EOL, is that it will not hold a charge well, and will not perform as well it used to and will get noticeably warmer when charging.
