Electronics circuit. Full wave bridge rectifier. LEDs and 1N4001 diodes. Rectifier component shown.
1N4001
A 1N4001 is a diode of the 1N400x series, all diodes of this series are widely used in electronic devices.
The 1N4001 diode is manufactured with good specifications, such as 1A upstream current, 3W power dissipation, and small in size with low price, which makes it ideal for a wide variety of electronic applications.
1N4007
1N4007 is a PN junction rectifier diode. These types of diodes only allow the flow of electric current in one direction. Therefore, it can be used for the conversion of alternating current to direct current. The 1N4007 is electrically compatible with other rectifier diodes and can be used instead of any diode of the 1N400X series.
The 1N4007 has various applications in real life. For example, applications of freewheeling diodes, general rectifying of power supplies, inverters, converters, etc.
1N4001 VS 1N4007: Pinout
Just shown below, The 1N4007 and 1N4001 both have two pins, the anode, and cathode respectively. Both pins have opposite charges on them. The two pins and their names and charges are shown in the table below.
The 1N4007 and 1N4001 diodes have a cathode (-) and anode (+). In the schematic symbol, the tip of the triangle with the line on top of it is the cathode.

| Pin No. | Pin Name | Description |
| 1 | Anode | Current always Enters through Anode |
| 2 | Cathode | Current always Exits through Cathode |

1N4001 & 1N4007 Meaning
1N4001 series diodes are 1 Ampere current handling general purpose rectifier diodes. 1N stands for American standard semiconductor (Generic name) with ONE JUNCTION.
400X Series like 4001, 4002 to 4007 indicate the diodes' voltage, current, and power rating.
1N= Means One Junction between P-type and N-Type.
400= Means the Serial number of the rectifier.
1= Means Defines its (1 A) current rating.
How to Safely Long Run 1N4007 in a Circuit
To obtain the maximum operating time of the diode, it is recommended to stay between 30 and 40 V below its maximum repetitive reverse voltage and other values. Always connect with correct polarity, and do not exceed a load of 1A. Do not operate and store at a temperature below -55 centigrade and above +175 centigrade.

1N4001 & 1N4007 Datasheet
What is purpose of a diode?
It allows current to flow easily in one direction but severely restricts current from flowing in the opposite direction. Diodes are rectifiers that change alternating current (ac) into pulsating direct current (dc). Diodes are rated according to their type, voltage, and current capacity.
Is 1N4007 a Schottky Diode?
1N4007 is a rectifier diode with a PN junction.
What is a 1N4001 Diode Used for?
The 1N400x (or 1N4001 or 1N4000) series is a prominent one-ampere general-purpose silicon rectifier diode family that is widely utilized in AC adapters for common household appliances. Its blocking voltage ranges from 50 to 1000 volts (1N4001) (1N4007).
Can I Replace 1N4001 with 1N4007?
Yes. The 1N4007 can sustain a larger reverse voltage (Vr), 1000V compared to 50V.
Where we can Use 1N4007?
1N4007 can be used in several circuits; it is often designed for general-purpose rectification, but it can also be used in any circuit that requires voltage blocking, voltage spike blocking, and so on. It's also useful in digital logic circuits.
