ADS1115 16BIT ADC 4CH PROG GAIN

ADS1115 and ADS1015 are all development boards and programmers. This article is going to introduce the difference between ADS1115 and ADS1015.

This video demonstrates detailed information about ADS1115 and ADS1015.

16 Bit I2C 4 CH ADS1115/ADS1015 Module

Overview of ADS1115

The ADS1115  provides 16-bit precision at 860 samples/second over I2C  for microcontrollers without an analog-to-digital converter or if you prefer a higher-precision ADC. Four single-ended input channels or two differential input channels can be installed on the chip. A configurable gain amplifier  (up to x16) is included to help enhance smaller single/differential signals to the entire range. This ADC  can measure a wide range of signals and runs on 2V to 5V power/logic. It's also very straightforward to use.

Overview of ADS1015

The ADS1015  analog-to-digital converters  (ADCs) are precision, low-power, 12-bit, I2Ccompatible ADCs available in an ultra-small, leadless X2QFN  -10 package and a VSSOP  -10 packaging. The ADS1015  converts data at speeds of up to 3300 samples per second (SPS). The PGA  allows precision large- and small-signal measurements with input ranges ranging from 256 mV to 6.144 V. The ADS1015  has two modes of operation: continuous conversion and single-shot conversion.

Conclusion of ADS1115 and ADS1015

Any microprocessor-based project can benefit from the high-resolution analog to digital conversion provided by the ADS1115 and ADS1015 4-channel breakout boards. These boards can operate with power and logic signals ranging from 2 to 5 volts, making them compatible with most 3.3v and 5v CPUs. The same 2-wire I2C bus can operate up to four of these boards, giving you up to 16 single-ended or differential channels. For tiny signals, a programmable gain amplifier can offer up to x16 gain.

Conclusion of ADS1115 and ADS1015

The ADS1015 and the ADS1115 both have a programmable gain from 2/3x to 16x so you can amplify small signals and read them with higher precision. The ADS1015  is a 4-channel 12-bit ADC, while the ADS1115  is a 16-bit ADC  with greater precision. Both feature a configurable gain range of 2/3 to 16 times, allowing you to amplify small signals and read them more precisely. These two boards are nearly identical, with the exception of resolution and speed. The ADS1115  has a greater resolution and a faster sampling rate than the ADS1015.

ADS1115 and ADS1015 Manufacturer

Adafruit is a fast-growing global leader in educational electronics platforms, prototyping, and development tools, operating out of a manufacturing facility in the heart of NYC. It was founded by Limor "Ladyada" Fried in 2005 and specializes in the design and fabrication of original electronic learning platforms, which Limor personally selects, tests, and approves before releasing. Adafruit is in the vanguard of Open Source Hardware, striving to educate makers of all ages in the field of electronics and programming. Founded by MIT engineer, Limor "Ladyada" Fried's goal was to create the best place online for learning electronics and making the best-designed products for makers of all ages and skill levels. Adafruit has grown to over 50 employees in the heart of NYC with a 15,000+ sq ft. factory. Adafruit has expanded offerings to include tools, equipment, and electronics that Limor personally selects, tests, and approves before going in to the Adafruit store. Limor was the first female engineer on the cover of WIRED magazine and was recently awarded Entrepreneur magazine's Entrepreneur of the year. In 2014 Adafruit was ranked #11 in the top 20 USA manufacturing companies and #1 in New York City by Inc. 5000 "fastest-growing private companies".

Frequently Asked Questions

How many channels are there in ADS1115?

The ADS1115 is a 4-channel 16-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter with an I2C interface that considerably improves measurement accuracy over Arduino and related uCs' built-in ADC.

How many pins of ADS1115 and ADS1015?

10 pins.

Can ADS1115 read negative voltage?

Even though it only uses a single source, the ADS1115 can measure negative values or voltages. Although the ADS1115 has a 16-bit resolution, it represents values using twos complement.

What is the use of ADS1115?

The ADS1115 is a 16-bit precision AD converter with an inbuilt reference voltage that is ultra-small and low-power. It is primarily utilized in high-precision instrumentation, automotive electronics, battery voltage collection, and other high-precision data collection applications.

How do I connect my Raspberry Pi to ads1015?

Connect a potentiometer to one of the analog inputs and see what happens. Connect the potentiometer's center leg (the wiper) to an analog input, then one of the other legs to 3.3V and the other leg to ground on the Pi.
