This video will show you the simplest method to check trasistor 8050 and 8550 quite easily.

How To Check Transistor 8050 and 8550 Very EASILY

S8550 Overview

S8550 is a PNP transistor hence the collector and emitter will be left open (Reverse biased) when the base pin is held at the ground and will be closed (Forward biased) when a signal is provided to the base pin. It has a maximum gain value of 300; this value determines the amplification capacity of the transistor normally S8550. Since it is very high it is normally used for amplification purposes.

When this transistor is fully biassed then it can allow a maximum of 700mA to flow across the collector and emitter. This stage is called Saturation Region and the typical voltage allowed across the Collector-Emitter (VCE) or Collector-Base (VCB) could be 20V and 30V respectively. When the base current is removed the transistor becomes fully off, this stage is called the Cut-off Region.

  • Power - Max

Power - Max is a parameter that specifies the maximum amount of power that an electronic component can handle without being damaged. It is typically measured in watts and indicates the upper limit of power that can be safely supplied to the component. Exceeding the maximum power rating can lead to overheating, malfunction, or permanent damage to the component. It is important to consider the power-max rating when designing circuits or systems to ensure proper operation and longevity of the electronic components.

  • Transistor Type

Transistor type refers to the classification of transistors based on their operation and construction. The two primary types are bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) and field-effect transistors (FETs). BJTs use current to control the flow of current, while FETs utilize voltage to control current flow. Each type has its own subtypes, such as NPN and PNP for BJTs, and MOSFETs and JFETs for FETs, impacting their applications and characteristics in electronic circuits.

  • Voltage - Collector Emitter Breakdown (Max)

Voltage - Collector Emitter Breakdown (Max) is a parameter that specifies the maximum voltage that can be applied between the collector and emitter terminals of a transistor or other semiconductor device before it breaks down and allows excessive current to flow. This parameter is crucial for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the component within its specified limits. Exceeding the maximum breakdown voltage can lead to permanent damage or failure of the device. Designers and engineers must carefully consider this parameter when selecting components for their circuits to prevent potential issues and ensure proper functionality.

Where to use S8550

S8550 is a general-purpose transistor, therefore, you can use it at the output of your audio amplifier circuits to amplify the output audio signal to 1 watt, for example, it can be used in electronic doorbells circuits, mp3 audio amplifiers and in the output of buzzer circuits, etc. If you want to use it as a switch then you can easily drive big relays, many small LEDs at once, and one or two high-power LEDs around 10 to 20 watts, switching ON another portion or application in an electronic project/circuit, etc. Moreover, it can also be used as an alternative or equivalent to many other general-purpose transistors and it is also an ideal transistor to use in your hobby electronic projects, therefore it is a must to have transistors in your electronics lab.

S8550 Manufacturer

JCET Group Co., Ltd. is a public company headquartered in Jiangyin on China's eastern coast. It is the largest Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) company in mainland China and the third-largest globally. JCET was formed in 1972 when Jiangyin converted a local factory to produce transistors. JCET went public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2003 and continued to grow over time. JCET provides a range of semiconductor packaging, assembly, manufacturing, and testing products and services.

How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit

Electronics components perform very well in a circuit for a long period of time if all the safety measures are taken into consideration at the time of designing and making the circuit, to make this transistor long run in your electronic application it is recommended to not use it in the circuit above 20V, and do not increase the output load from -700mA, always use a good current limiting resistor at the base of the transistor, and do not use it in the temperature above 150 centigrade and below -65 centigrade.
