TP4056 description
The TP4056 is a single cell lithium-ion battery constant-current/constant-voltage linear charger. The TP4056 is ideal for portable applications due to its SOP package and low external component count. Furthermore, the TP4056 is compatible with USB and wall adapters.
Because of the internal PMOSFET architecture, no blocking diode is required, and the circuit prevents negative charge current. Thermal feedback controls the charge current in order to keep the die temperature low during high power operation or high ambient temperature. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current is externally programmable using a single resistor. When the charge current falls to one-tenth of the programmed value after the final float voltage is reached, the TP4056 automatically terminates the charge cycle.

The two status LEDs (CHRGn, STDBYn), the battery connection (BAT), the current control connection (PROG), and the TEMP connection are all visible here. Some LI batteries contain an internal thermistor, which can be connected as shown above. In most breakout boards, TEMP is not used and is connected to the Ground.
