TMC2100 Stepper Motor Driver[Video]: TMC2100 VS TMC2130 VS TMC2208, Pinout, and Datasheet
SILENTSTEPSTICK TMC2100 STEPPER
TRINAMIC's most autonomous driving IC is the TMC2100. With only seven pins to set up, this tiny and sophisticated standalone driver for two-phase stepper motors offers market-leading functionality. It is not necessary to interface with the CPU. Step and Direction signals are used to control the motor. This article is going to talk about the features, pinout, and more detailed information about the TMC2100.

TMC2100 guide - Stepper driver upgrades part 1 / How to set VREF & firmware
Overview of TMC2100
For 3D printing, cameras, scanners, and other automated equipment applications, the TMC2100 delivers an integrated motor driver solution. The device is designed to operate a bipolar stepper motor and includes an integrated microstepping indexer as well as the entirely noiseless current control mode StealthChopTM. To drive the motor windings, the output driver block consists of low RDSon N-Channel power MOSFETs configured as full H-bridges. Each of the TMC2100's outputs may drive up to 2.5A of current (with proper heatsinking). The TMC2100 is designed to work with a 546V supply voltage. The gadget features a step and direction interface and digital pins that can be adjusted.

TMC2100 Motor Current Setting

Measuring the voltage on the Vref pin (0...2.5V) and adjusting the voltage with the potentiometer is the best technique to set the motor current. The greatest motor current that can be set is 1.77A RMS (0.11Ohm sensing resistors), while the SilentStepSticks can only handle 1.2A RMS.

TMC2100 VS TMC2130 VS TMC2208

Conclusion of TMC2100 VS TMC2130 VS TMC2208
SpreadCycle and StealthChop are two of the TMC2100's operation modes. The TMC2130 is similar to the TMC2130, however, it has more operation modes and stall detection. The TMC2208 is identical to the TMC2100, but it has a UART interface and a StealthChop 2 operation mode. This chip is also less difficult to install, and it can be utilized without any firmware updates! Additionally, the major differences between the TMC2100, TMC2130, and TMC2208 are their driver current. The driver current of TMC2100 is up to 1.7A, while the driver current of TMC2130 and TMC2208 is up to 2A.

TMC2100 Manufacturer
Watterott electronic GmbH specializes in open-hardware, DIY (do-it-yourself), and development components. Stephan Watterott founded the company in Hausen (Thuringia, Germany) in March 2008 to offer unique microcontroller boards and specialty hard-to-find development components. In the early days, a 20 m2 room was enough space for an office, manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping departments, but as the product range and shipping volumes increased, the original space became too small. In 2010, the company renovated and moved into a new location in Leinefelde. Since then, the product range has continued to grow and the in-house production is constantly expanded.
